Technician/Research Associate - Crop & Soil Science

Plant & Food Research develops knowledge tools and practical technologies for the agriculture industry to ensure the sustainable production of superior food products while minimising the impact of the production systems on the environment.  Our Field Crops Group focuses on improving crop yield, quality and economic performance whilst enhancing the efficiency of resource use, such as water and nutrients.  

The primary focus of this position is to support our Crop & Soil Science team scientists in conducting research on profitable and sustainable production practices, primarily for the arable, vegetable and forage crop sectors. Key responsibilities will include managing field and greenhouse trials, collecting data and engaging with land-owners to maintain field experiments.

Ideally, you’ll have a degree in agricultural or horticultural science, together with experience managing crops and field trials. You’ll have experience in data collection, enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions and be willing and able to travel for field experimentation as necessary. A full driver’s licence is essential and experience with farm machinery an advantage.
