Join the Centre for Applied Science and Primary Industries team at Wintec on a fixed term contract.

About the role

This role is to coordinate the technical requirements for practical laboratory sessions for the range of programmes in our Animal Technology team, including the NZ Certificate in Animal Care (Companion Animal), Veterinary Nursing Assistant and Diploma Veterinary Nursing courses. There will also be scope to supervise animal handling sessions within these Programmes. Being a member of the Health and Safety team is also part of the role. We are looking for a fixed-term, part-time (0.6 full time equivalent) technician, this time will need to be apportioned over three to five days and may suit someone returning to the workforce, or someone wanting to reduce their hours in a family friendly, flexible hours arrangement. The position will be reviewed in July.

Are you an ideal candidate?

Do you have a relevant qualification (Cert in VNA, or DipVN) and work experience in a veterinary clinic or laboratory environment? Is interacting with a wide variety of animals and supervising correct animal handling one of your skills? Coordinating the technical requirements for practical laboratory sessions requires flexibility and organisation. You will also hold a full NZ driver's licence. If you have good communication skills and are enthusiastic about the work you do, this could be your next exciting move.
