Debate Magazine at AUT is on the hunt for a news editor to curate the all-important news section of the publication.

As is the nature of student media, this news content will sometimes be very serious and occasionally completely ridiculous. A good sense of humour is a must here.  

The successful candidate will be someone who can produce news content that is highly relevant to AUT students and student life in general. 

In this role, it is essential to maintain a close relationship with members of the student body and follow-up on any news tips.

The news editor will also take charge of the volunteer news reporters.


Your Skills

  • You write flawless copy
  • Good at keeping on top of the news at a national level
  • Able to find a story anywhere
  • A friendly team player


The ideal candidate will provide some examples of past written work and may be studying or perhaps a recent graduate looking for some more experience.

This is a part time role of 7 hours per week.
