National Laboratory Manager

Higgins specialises in road and infrastructure design, construction and maintenance. As a company we’ve always embraced change and are committed to providing our customers with a high level of technical expertise, project management capability and quality assurance. With over 1600 staff, the Higgins team is currently involved with some of the largest road engineering projects in New Zealand and Fiji. 

We have a brand new position in our Road Technology Team for a National Laboratory Manager. This position will be based at our Auckland Group office in Highbrook, reporting to the Road Technology Manager. We have laboratories in Hawkes Bay, Palmerston North and Auckland. Our labs ensure that we meet pavement quality requirements and comply with industry standards. 

This is a new and varied role where you will be involved with managing the change of bringing together our labs and maintaining the operation as one business in terms of consistency in process and procedures. You will be involved in a range of aspects including quality assurance, research and development and change management. 

You will also be a strong people leader, be customer focused and have the ability to build strong relationship with both internal and external customers.

To be suitable for this role you will need to have a science / civil engineering related qualification, a sound understanding of mix design, materials and pavement technology along with demonstrated experience in a similar position within the roading/civil industry. 

This role will give you the opportunity to be part of an experienced and dynamic team of engineers who are at the forefront of product development whilst gaining exposure to new technology in the roading/civil construction industry.
