The Role

As the company prepares for the next chapter in its future, the exciting role of a Corporate Strategy Analyst based in Wellington has opened up in the Strategy team, which is a part of the Strategy & Business Operations functional unit. The role will support both, near and longer-term strategic objectives for Chorus providing relevant execution support and tracking progress.

This is a great opportunity to join a team that’s shaping Chorus’ future. In this role you will provide essential analytical support to the business. This includes understanding and communicating industry trends, creating and maintaining Excel models to support strategic initiatives and assess their impact. While based in the Corporate Strategy team this role works cross-functionally, providing analytical and business casing support for initiatives across the business - always with wider Chorus wide perspective.

This role will require you to:

  • Provide insightful analysis on a range of issues and opportunities to the business;
  • Analyse and create perspectives on the telco market and associated trends;
  • Create and maintain analytical excel models;
  • Support executing on a pan-Chorus Corporate Strategy framework and associated cascading down to Functional units;
  • Support pan-Chorus execution of the commercialisation of innovation / BAU opportunities;
  • Support strategic initiatives across Chorus, including business casing and financial modelling and impact upon business performance;
  • Collaborate effectively with key internal stakeholders and senior Chorus leaders.

Your Background

Experience and skills requirements:

  • At least 5 years' experience in a relevant strategy or consulting or functional role (with strong strategy / analytical exposure and responsibilities);
  • Strong experience in detailed business casing and handling complex, analytical excel models;
  • Telecommunications (or relevant technology) industry experience is preferable;
  • Independent self-thinker, highly motivated and proactive in approach;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Exposure to strategy frameworks / strategic thinking;
  • Financial and commercial experience in business casing, financial modelling; commercialisation of new initiatives and/or commercial transaction experience;
  • Intermediate or higher Excel and Power Point skills;
  • Collaborative style and builder of strong working relationships.
