Chief Executive Officer

My client is a membership based National body known for delivering excellence to it’s members, and the wider business community in which it operates.

The organisation has a long and rich history, serving a deeply passionate professional sector.

We are now seeking applications for the role of Chief Executive Officer.

Supported by the Board the Chief Executive Officer will have responsibilities across 3 distinct agendas;

  • Day to day management of the organisation and staff
  • Continued execution of the long term strategic plan
  • Sustained growth of the organisation, both in size and influence

Each of these areas requires a distinct set of skills and experience, so we are looking for a very special individual with a blend of professional and commercial skills to continue the journey.

As an influencer, you will have experience in dealing with Government, Local Authorities, you should enjoy the challenge of public speaking and captivating our audiences – it’s a wonderful subject matter and of interest to all New Zealanders.

Your abilities as a leader and a figure head will have a direct impact on so many facets of this role, flowing into membership growth, sponsorship and publicity opportunities. You need to be connected, to ensure our voice is current and reflects the needs and wants of our member base.

Creating successful outcomes should have been a constant feature in your career. Understanding the mechanics and intricacies of membership based organisations will be a huge advantage, but not necessarily a pre-requisite for the successful candidates.

Your professional track record should include demonstrable experience of management of compliance and governance issues, with an emphasis on ethics and professional standards we need a strong hand to ensure the continued smooth running of the organisation and its financial viability.

The organisation has a commitment to the industry in terms of professional development they provide, and also runs their Industry Code of Conduct and therefore impeccable judgement is required and again, as the figure head, having the passion to bring to life the advantages and benefits of these services would be essential.

As a strategist you need to have clear vision and the ability to imagine to assist and support the Board in their role of shaping the future, we’re looking for a ‘Critical Friend’ of the board who understands the benefit in open communication.

There is some national travel required to support the regions, with the team based in Canterbury there may be some flexibility with regard to location dependent on your appetite for travel.

To apply please submit your latest resume, cover letter including your availability, and salary expectations to Helen Cartwright through the Seek Application Portal.

Applications Close on Friday 15th February.
