Resource Support Officer

  • Hydro Lake and Dam Surveillance
  • Based at Whakamaru Dam (half an hour north of Taupo; 1.5 hours from Hamilton)
  • Mid-North Island location - lakes, fish, mountains, forests

Our Hydro Resource Team contributes to the effective operation of Waikato River hydro electricity generation resources. They deliver a range of services to complement the dam and lake safety programme.

In this role, you'll be responsible for:

  • Operating and maintaining weed harvesting and mulching operations
  • Surveillance and monitoring of hydro generation structures and the surrounding environment
  • Being the First Responder for hydro lake environmental emergencies
  • Field testing, maintenance and communication of data and technical information
  • Managing facility contracts across the hydro stations
  • Completing monthly dam safety route marches
  • Ensuring compliance to various Acts, industry standards, Codes of Practice and health and safety practices
  • Ensuring the boat and vehicle fleet are correctly maintained
  • Contributing towards the review, development and implementation of maintenance strategies
  • Achieving and maintaining relevant qualifications, including dam surveillance, managing oil spills and boat operating licence

We are looking for:

  • Heavy Traffic Licence
  • Forklift endorsement and local launch boat masters certificate (preferred)
  • Experience with maintenance systems and practices
  • Mechanical capability
  • Experience managing contracts (preferred)
