The Organisation

Tāmaki is located southeast of Auckland’s CBD. It consists of the suburbs of Glen Innes, Point England and Panmure. The area is characterised by an outstanding natural environment, culturally diverse community (47% Pacific, 23% Maori, 10% Asian), a young population (29% under the age of 15), close proximity to the CBD, and strong community networks. There are also significant challenges within the area, including a large number of people seeking work and a high number of residents receiving support from the Government.

Tāmaki Redevelopment Company (TRC) has been mandated by its shareholders, New Zealand Government and Auckland Council, to lead on urban regeneration activity in Tāmaki to achieve four equally important objectives - social transformation, economic development, placemaking and housing resources.

The Role

TRC has made a commitment to existing social housing residents in Tāmaki that they will be given the opportunity to remain in Tāmaki should they wish to do so. This means
Providing sufficient housing to cater for those affected by redevelopment.
The key part of this role is to support families transition from their existing social house into new housing of a high quality. Through this process we get to understand any issues or opportunities for the family which could include:
•    Linking families to appropriate and better services which enable them to be more independent
•    Providing opportunities for education and employment
•    Addressing housing affordability

You will be the face of TRC in engaging with the wider community:
•    Working with private residents to help them understand and contribute to the change happening in their neighbourhood
•    Facilitating community meetings and gathering information from across TRC to respond to what can sometimes be quite technical questions about property and development
This is immensely rewarding, knowing that you have helped make a positive difference to individual families and the wider community. It is also a wide and complex role where your amazing abilities to engage, listen and deliver will help make Tamaki an Awesome Place to Live.

Key outcomes expected

Key outcomes expected of this role are:
    Maintain trusting, respectful relationships deep within the Community
    Maintain a deep understanding about individual families living within a neighbourhood and their circumstances

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
   Experience in case management and assessing/gathering information from assigned portfolio.
    Facilitating & coordinating engagement programs.
    Strong computer literacy particularly MS excel
    Demonstrated achievement of results through local community initiatives. Deep understanding and experience of Tāmaki community (or a similar community)
    Proven ability to lead without authority
    An ability to work with ambiguity, being adaptable and dynamic.
The key competencies are:

Why Tamaki

This is a ground-breaking regeneration project working alongside a diverse group of stakeholders. The role is an opportunity for a person with community experience to work in a truly innovative company delivering social outcomes.
TRC is positioned to achieve something that has not been achieved before in New Zealand. The regeneration of Tāmaki will not only build a ‘place’ for a vibrant and cohesive community, it will create greater opportunities for the children, adults and businesses of Tāmaki. TRC holds an opportunity to influence future projects for the greater benefit of Auckland and New Zealand’s social, economic and spatial regeneration.
