NETcon are looking for a talented and outcome focused person to fill the role of Faultman and be part of our diverse Timaru-based team.

What's involved?

As a Faultman you are responsible for "keeping the power on" in the event of an issue, crisis or emergency. This can mean being the first support person on-site in difficult situations, you need to remain calm, assess the situation, offer assistance and provide emergency support if needed. It means working as a team, ensuring the safety of yourself and others while resolving challenges in varied locations and weather conditions. To the best of your ability, you are to ensure work is completed to a quality standard in the timeframe available.

Essential for this role is the knowledge of the Electricity Safety Regulations and SM-El and knowledge of the Electricity Industry Participation Code (as they relate to distribution companies).

To be successful your qualifications and experience will include the following:

  • Current EWRB registration as either an Electrician or Line Mechanic
  • Demonstrated training and experience in switching
  • Hands-on experience in all aspects of electricity distribution networks
  • NZ Certificate in Electricity Supply Level 4

What you'll need:

  • Fault location and repair
  • Providing first response to faults
  • Field Switching
  • Safe Work Practices

The successful candidate must hold a current Practising Licence, current full drivers license, be prepared to be part of a standby faults roster and be able to work as part of a team or on your own.

Candidates who have recently held Faultman network warrants (PHC) and/or who have Transpower Switching experience will be highly regarded. You'll also need to have a reasonable level of physical fitness in order to properly complete your duties.

Applicants must display initiative and have great problem-solving skills, ensuring you make quick and sound decisions on the job. Outstanding communication skills are essential, and you'll have a commitment to ensuring the safety of your team and adherence to company policies and processes.
