Business Manager

  • Auckland CBD or Wellington based role, travel required

Our client delivers personalised careers programmes and workshops that best equip students for their futures. Showing massive growth in NZ and recently launched into Asia with great success, we are looking for an experienced leader to join this fast paced, innovative and unique business who are passionate about making a difference.

The business focuses on engaging, empowering and motivating students to determine their own career pathway, based on what they know, learn and discover about themselves, without any external influences. They pride themselves on providing realistic, current, and pragmatic advice and information, bridging the gap between study and employment for young people.

You will be responsible for the overall operations of the business, including growing and maintaining Sales, Product Development and Delivery, Marketing, HR and Finance.

Key accountabilities:

  • Leadership: Working with a close knit and fun team, you will empower them to reach objectives, deliver superb results, be inspiring to youth and have a growth mindset to flex as required.
  • Relationship Management and Business Development: Strategically identify, pursue and maintain opportunities with new schools, and have the ability to grow or adapt business with engaged schools.
  • HR and Recruitment: Being responsible for all company resourcing and training, along with personal development and performance management as required.
  • Financial and Commercial: Maintain an effective overview of the financial management, product pricing and performance of the business in liaison with the Company Accountant and Director.  Key contact for all contract management and finance with school or customers.
  • Product Development and Delivery: Ensure products and programmes are reviewed and developed as required, to educate students, and delivered to clients by the team, inspired by our company values and vision.

Key attributes we are looking for:

  • Strong knowledge of the Education sector is important including the careers and growth of young people in the world today.
  • Keenness in career guidance; the global future of work and market trends
  • Broad career that gives you a perspective on all the opportunities that exist for young people.
  • Strong listener, public speaker and able to ‘engage a room’.
  • Experience successfully managing, leading and inspiring a team
  • Strong growth mindset ability to manage relationships and drive sales activity
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience managing operational budgets and providing forecasts
