Technician - Entomology - Auckland
The opportunity
We are seeking Technicians for our Pest Laboratory on a casual basis based in Blockhouse Bay. This role will involve an extensive range of responsibilities such as slide mounting and basic identification of insects and other arthropods from export certification programmes such as kiwifruit, and dairy industry environmental monitoring.
About you
Prior experience within a highly regulated, fast paced laboratory environment would be an advantage, along with excellent computer and LIMS data entry skills. The ability to pay close attention to detail, and excellent manipulation skills, will be critical. You are capable to learn new systems promptly and efficiently, and are able to manage your time effectively, and prioritise work effectively to meet targets and deadlines.
Having a degree qualification (Bachelor of Science in Zoology in or Entomology) would be advantageous, but not critical. However, excellent oral and written communication skills will be critical to your success in this role. You must be passionate about quality and delivering outstanding customer service in a commercial environment.
Full training will be provided to the successful candidates, however you will be a motivated fast learner, have an excellent eye for detail and an interest in Science. Having the ability to be a team player and have a positive attitude are essential.
