With significant growth in the building industry, an exciting opportunity awaits someone who is looking to establish a broader footprint in the market and make a significant impact within the company and the industry.

Our client is a successful new home building company, which specialises in affordable investment properties and family homes.

Reporting to the Director, the Chief Operating Officer role will provide leadership and management across all corporate functions. You will take ownership of the operational, business improvement and project management areas of the business while delivering on all targets. This pivotal role is responsible for the implementation of strategic plans and achieving profitable business growth and will include frequent deputising for the Director when required.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Providing proactive leadership, clear direction and open & clear communication for the company
  • Implementing business process improvements and managing/overseeing company systems in conjunction with the Director
  • Translating organisational strategies into concrete goals and objectives
  • Financial management
  • Stakeholder Management including Customers, Supply Chain Subcontractors & Suppliers
  • Health & Safety, and quality assurance

You will have a track record of successfully managing, leading and motivating large diverse teams. Your ability to translate strategy into implementation and to motivate people to execute this work will make you a winner for this role. Significant experience managing operational budgets and providing forecasts is crucial, as well as your understanding of NZ health and safety requirements. Residential or commercial head contractor experience would be an advantage. You will be a natural leader with proven experience in delivering calm leadership in a high-pressure environment. While you have expertise and a strategic mindset, you are able to build long-term and trusting relationships with relevant stakeholders, internally and externally. This is a role that requires significant leadership experience, preferably in the construction sector, with proven ability to improve systems and increase effectiveness and efficiency.
