Terminal Operator - Christchurch

Programmed Skilled Workforce is a leading provider of staffing and training services.

Our client is a leading supplier of fuel to the New Zealand market, with involvement in refining and distribution, and branded service stations throughout the country.

This is a full time, 12 month temporary assignment located in Christchurch; 4 days on, 4 days off; 12 hour shifts however the working schedule will periodically change along with day vs night shifts.

As Terminal Operator you will be a key part of the Operations team contributing to the smooth running of the terminal facilities. You will be responsible for:

• Co-ordinating the safe, reliable and efficient operation of Terminals, including operation of the Pipeline and the Load Racks at facilities.

• Ensuring that on-specification product is safely transferred and maintained to the tanks and the Truck Load Rack.

• Perform activities related to the receipt and shipping of all products and additives at the site.

• Manage and coordinate contractors and drivers with respect to safety, orientation and compliance

• Act as main contact/liaison between the Control room and site operations

• Interface directly with the measurement specialist, ISU, and third party personnel for inventory management and measurement

• Witness meter proving and PDM procedures.

• Assist with mechanical and operational activities as required.

• Keeps accurate records of all associated documentation and correspondence related to terminal operations.

SKILLS AND QUALIFCATIONS

• Performing tank changes for pipeline receipts as well as supply tanks to the Truck Load Rack, updating computer systems.

• Ensure water samples are taken and sent to the laboratory for testing and results filed and variances reported.

• Able to work a 24/7 Shift roster and cope well with working outside in all weather conditions.

• In depth knowledge of the applicable rules, regulations and standards for the operation

• Excellent interpersonal skills, negotiation and communication skills

• High-level working knowledge of terminal measurement practices

• Able to communicate confidently and clearly with assertiveness.

• Excellent understanding of product quality requirements

• Strong computer skills including Excel and Word.

• Previous experience in Terminal Operations

• Demonstrates leadership skills

• Good mechanical aptitude.

• Valid Driver’s License
