Our Purpose: Why we do it

When you work with the Canterbury District Health Board, you're part of something very special. We plan, fund and deliver health services to the almost 600,000 New Zealanders that live in the Canterbury region. Our primary goal is to put people at the heart of everything we do.

The Team: What we do

As a team within the larger People and Capability function, Talent Leadership and Capability are responsible for attracting, developing and retaining staff and ensuring our workforce is empowered with the knowledge and capabilities to make a difference for the people we care for. We work to support the People and Capability team, the Canterbury District Health Board, the West Coast District Health Board and Our Health System as a whole.

Our purpose is to grow staff engagement and understanding with the vision and goals for the Canterbury and West Coast health systems and make sure all teams and roles know their accountability and responsibility. As a result, we are actively involved in multiple process and systems improvement projects across talent, leadership and capability as well as people and capability functions.

The Role: Where you fit in

In this role, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Working across the People and Capability function and wider organisation to support innovative approaches for recruitment, selection, leadership and capability development and talent management aligned to best practise principles and procedures.
  • Working collaboratively across People and Capability function and wider organisation with respect to strategic planning, resource allocation, workforce modelling, leadership technique, behavioural science, and coordination of people and resources while reinforcing and encouraging best practise principles.
  • Providing leadership with respect to the principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and facilitation for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.

Your skills will include the following:

  • Practical experience driving large OD/HR/IO-related projects within a complex environment is a must
  • Master's Degree in Psychology or HR-related specialty is desirable
  • Ability to network, collaborate and build strong and effective working relationships
  • Highly competent communicator both written and verbal
  • Strong multi-tasking and organisational skills
  • Well-developed analytical and critical thinking
  • A proactive, goal orientated and outcome focussed approach
