The Bay of Plenty is an exciting place to live and has a rapidly growing population. Simultaneously, growth in Mental Health and Addiction Services is innovative and exciting. An opportunity has arisen to appoint an experienced Registered Nurse, specialising in substance withdrawal management, to the position of Community Detox Nurse for the Bay of Plenty Addiction Service. Registered Nurses must have Mental Health included on their Scope of Practice.
 
The Community Detox Nurse will support a positive team environment, provide leadership and expertise on the area of substance withdrawal management, within the multidisciplinary team and participate in the day-to-day clinical work.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a Registered Nurse with a current annual practicing certificate that includes Mental Health, and a minimum of 2 years' postgraduate experience in community mental health and/or the addiction field
  • Have experience working with the Matua Raki Substance Withdrawal Management Guidelines, 2011
  • Work as a key team member of the BOP Addiction Service team in the provision of efficient and effective substance withdrawal management, providing services to the Bay of Plenty community
  • Focus on better patient outcomes and commit to working within the principles of the BOPDHB CARE values
