THE OPPORTUNITY

We require an experienced Project Engineer to join our team in New Plymouth on a full-time basis.  Our successful candidate will have previous experience with multiple small to medium size projects, have a strong Client focus with emphasis on relationship building and a high degree of personal accountability. Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Assist the Business to ensure projects are completed in accordance with the scope of work, schedule, budget requirements and client policies and procedures
  • Assist with schedule preparation, pre-planning and resource forecasting for engineering and other technical activities relating to the project. 
  • Monitor, control and report project progress against multiple project timelines, milestones and key performance indicators.
  • Identify and document potential risks and develop effective control strategies to minimise these.
  • Assist with the interface between the Project Manager and Client representatives to provide solutions and support successful delivery of projects.
  • Assist with the completion of engineering deliverables by providing quality audits, facilitating multi-discipline reviews and organising critical meeting and workshops.
  • Proactively manage the delivery of smaller sections of the overall scope achieving project objectives
  • Use scheduling and document management tools to update, track and record project performance
  • Identify value engineering opportunities 
  • Assist with general project control duties including the management of variations by analysing the implications of scope change on issues such as cost, safety, quality and schedule.

ABOUT YOU

  • Approx. 5 years' experience in project engineering 
  • Proven record of delivering projects on time and on budget in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Engineering degree or equivalent 
  • Ability to work in a team environment to ensure successful project delivery 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong relationship-building and leadership skills are a must 

It's not necessary, however it would be advantageous if you possess the following:

  • Engineering and project knowledge within the Energy and infrastructure industry
  • Working knowledge of Project Management and Cost control principles (PIMBOK)
