Senior Systems Engineer

Our client, Pacific Technology Solutions (PTS), is passionate about providing private-cloud IT solutions to a wide range of high quality NZ and international customers. They operate enterprise-class infrastructure and networking via a globally distributed datacentre model. PTS have offices in Hamilton, Melbourne and Toronto and are creating exciting technology opportunities for both their team and customers across the globe.

Due to continuous customer growth and ongoing investment in leading edge technology, they are looking for an experienced Senior Systems Engineer. As part of the Infrastructure Team, this role will be key to further improving the effectiveness of the infrastructure environment across their datacentres, including security, hardware and network design and maintaining the currency of their environment. They are looking for someone who is passionate about technology, is a great team player, and has a fantastic customer service ethic.

The successful applicant will be a self-starter who has previously led and delivered technical projects, and who has a wide range of experience across   a variety of technology stacks. You will get to work with enterprise-class technologies and IT solutions, work on some very interesting projects, and be rewarded for a hands-on approach, all by a river-side setting.

To apply for this role, you will have:

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience working in senior infrastructure roles
  • Extensive experience implementing and supporting HP server and 3PAR storage infrastructure in datacentre environments
  • Solid experience with the implementation and management of Microsoft systems including Exchange, Active Directory, Remote Desktop, SQL Server
  • Virtualisation technology experience - Hyper-V and VMWare
  • Excellent network configuration skills with Cisco, HP and Fire Power  products
  • A solid level of formal training and certification, particularly with Microsoft, Cisco, and HP
  • The practical application of security disciplines and practices
  • Experience working in a large scale LAN/WAN/Backbone/ISP environment would be advantageous, and/or in a multi-tenanted environment
  • Demonstrated success in the recommendation and implementation of new technology products and services
  • Proven ability to own and deliver technical initiatives and projects
  • Experience implementing and using a wide range of infrastructure management tools
  • Solid systems administration skills including best practise experience.
