Human Resources Administrator

The Human Resources team at The Salvation Army is looking for an HR Administrator to join their busy and highly successful close-knit team. This is an exciting time to join the team as they have a number of initiatives they are working towards. Being a team player, you will be joining a capable team of six, who is dedicated to providing timely and sound advice to managers on a variety of HR activities. In fact, we provide support and advice on a wide range of matters covering approximately 3,000 employees and volunteers across the country.

The purpose of this position is to provide secretarial support to the HR Manager and the full range of administrative support to the HR team. The HR Administrator acts as the first point of contact for HR-related queries from employees and external stakeholders and also to provide HR support to Territorial Headquarters and its related functions.

You will be a team player and work collaboratively to achieve desired outcomes.

Responsibilities include:

  • providing HR Helpdesk Service
  • training coordination
  • coordinating travel for the HR team
  • secretarial support for the HR Manager
  • taking minutes of HR related meetings
  • providing administrative support for HR projects
  • providing input to the Payroll team (for Territorial Headquarters)
  • drafting job adverts and job descriptions
  • posting adverts on internal and external media
  • managing the relationships with a number of external providers
  • coordinating internal HR communication
  • drafting employment agreements and associated employment documentation.

Person specification:

  • A relevant tertiary level qualification is desirable
  • Previous experience working as HR Administrator or in a similar role
  • Knowledge of HR legislation, systems and best practice would be advantageous
  • Membership of HRINZ is desirable

You may have a strong administration background with the long term goal of working in HR or already be working in the HR area.
