About the role 

Orica are looking for a Bench Assistant to join our Mining Services team at Stockton. This is a fantastic entry level position where you will get an opportunity to work alongside and learn from our MMU Operators and Shotfirers, gaining exposure and training to tasks associated with loading, tying and firing. The successful applicant will also be trained in operating the Mobile Manufacturing Unit (MMU).

 

Our Mobile Manufacturing Units (MMU) are specialised heavy rigid vehicles that mix and deliver blast product into pre-drilled blast holes on bench, at a mine site.

 

This position will operate on a Monday – Friday roster.

 

What you will be doing

  • Assisting the team with on bench tasks;
  • Assisting with the delivery of explosive products down pre-drilled blast holes on bench;
  • Assisting with preventative maintenance;
  • Performing manual handling tasks;
  • Working in a team environment to meet customer expectations;
  • Adhering to site safety and other policies and procedures;

 

What you bring

  • Current Experience as an MMU Operator / Support Shotfirer (desirable)
  • Current NZ Class 4 Driving Licence
  • A sublime safety record and commitment
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Intermediate computer skills including Outlook, Word, Excel
