We are looking for Construction Manager with solid experience in construction to join our team in East Tamaki

The role

This role is responsible for delivering capital works construction primarily for major substations.

This opportunity could suit an experienced site supervisor, build manager or foreman looking to take the next step.

As a Construction Manager at Northpower you will:

  • Manage direct reports.
  • Provide expert input for tenders.
  • Manage procurement.
  • Lead and drive the site construction works.
  • Ensure all required records are obtained and submitted.
  • Ensure job closeouts are fully completed.

An Electrical Engineering, Leadership or Project Management qualification is desirable. 

Most importantly you will have proven your ability to:

  • Develop and manage inter-personal relationships.
  • Motivate and lead/manage teams.
  • Plan and deliver works safely, on-time and to required standards.
  • Deliver sound commercial outcomes to pre-set targets.
  • Readily develop and learn.


Expert input for tenders.Procurement.Construction methodology.Programme (for on-time delivery).Resourcing and staff/contractor performance.Health, safety, environmental and regulatory requirements.Standards and specifications compliance.Managing all aspects of construction on site.Scope change management.Reporting (progress and completion).Financial matters e.g. draft variation claims.Managing project documentation across multiple stakeholders.Records.

Skills and experience

Project management experienceEWRB RegisteredElectrical Inspector certificationRelevant tertiary level qualificationA proven track record of relationship/stakeholder management ensuring the successful outcome of projects.Proven safety cultureProven supervision experienceExperience of working with financials/ budgetsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsProficient in EXCEL and Microsoft ProjectClass 1 licence
