Legal Counsel

  • Large global organisation
  • Well remunerated 12mth contract

Opportunity to join a large global FMCG organisation as a Legal Counsel in a 12 month maternity leave contract.

Client Details

Our client is a market leading, global FMCG organisation with a long, established history and a bright and dynamic future. They build distinctive brands that excite their consumers and satisfy their needs in a highly complex and competitive retail environment.

An exciting opportunity has become available for a (Legal) Counsel to join their Legal and External Affairs (LEX) team, on a 12 month fixed term basis, based in Auckland.

Description

Reporting to the Legal Counsel for New Zealand role, your primary aim is to deliver legal excellence in all aspects of commercial, regulatory and compliance legal matters affecting the business.

As Counsel you will have responsibility for drafting and advising on commercial contracts, advising on a wide range of corporate advisory and regulatory matters for compliance with New Zealand law and effectively managing internal compliance and governance requirements and training. For the right candidate, there is also the potential for exposure to advising on commercial litigation.

You will drive results in this role by delivering a consistently high standard of professional legal and compliance counselling and advice to a broad range of management and staff across the business, attention to detail, commercial acumen and a collaborative, can-do attitude.

Profile

To make this role your own, you will be degree qualified with preferably a commercial law background and will have a minimum of 5 years’ legal experience gained in a high performing environment.

You will have excellent commercial legal experience covering a broad range of topics combined with the ability to make your legal advice commercially accessible and relevant. Previous in-house (particularly FMCG in-house) legal experience, compliance legal experience and/or litigation legal experience will also be considered favourably

With the drive to work independently and focus on results, you’ll be a strategic thinker with strong business acumen; and be a confident and trusted advisor to the business.

You’ll be a proven leader with the ability to create close working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. Your leadership experience, excellent people skills, and the ability to work in a matrix organisation will be critical to your success in this role.

Job Offer

Our client excels at developing their own people into leaders of the future. As an organisation with a high-performance culture, they’ll expect a lot from you. But they’ll support you every step of the way to help you deliver. If you’re passionate and ambitious, rapid career progression is a reality here. And because they’re such a large company (they employ more than 55,000 people worldwide), there are plenty of exciting opportunities for you to develop a truly extraordinary career.
