We currently have an exciting opportunity for an individual with excellent customer service and administrative skills to join our Student Academic Services and Engagement Team in the Faculty of Medical & Health Sciences.

The opportunity

The Student Academic Adviser is responsible for providing both advice and support to applicants and students regarding admissions, enrolment, academic progress and completion. This is an incredibly rewarding role, where you will directly contribute to our students’ experience of the University of Auckland.

  • You’ll be the first point of contact for email and in-person applicant queries, and represent the faculty at student recruitment events both on campus and in schools.

  • You’ll also coordinate and administer admissions and enrolment processing.

  • You’ll support students at academic risk, as well as high-achieving students, monitoring student progress and creating, implementing, and reviewing study and support plans.

  • You will demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills through relationship management, advocacy and negotiation.

  • You’ll also practise a high level of customer service, ensuring efficient and accurate execution of service deliverables.

  • Throughout all, you will work collaboratively toward continuous improvement.

Who are we looking for?

  • An understanding of the New Zealand tertiary education sector, and equity issues affecting students, is critical to this role, so we envisage you’ll be tertiary-qualified yourself or have worked in the sector previously.

  • You will be experienced working in a customer-focused environment, with strong problem-solving abilities.

  • You will have relevant administrative experience, and a high level of computer literacy with experience of data handling.

  • You will also thrive in highly-regulated environments, with excellent time management skills and the ability to work under pressure.

If you have experience providing a first-class customer service, and are friendly and engaging with great interpersonal and communication skills, this could be the perfect opportunity to develop your career. Apply today!
