Continuous Improvement Specialist

Christchurch City Council is developing a culture where continuous improvement is an inherent part of every-day life within the organisation - the way we do things here. The Continuous Improvement programme supports the Council in delivering excellent citizen, customer and community services through improving our effectiveness, our efficiency, and our capability. The benefits of these improvements will, over time, be experienced by our teams, Council customers and the wider community.

The key priorities for this role will be promoting innovative initiatives across teams to deliver customer and business benefits as well as influencing change within and across business units. You will be involved in both large end to end projects as well as working with the business to iteratively solve smaller problems. At times you will improve processes as part of technical projects digitising our citizen experience. You will be kept on your toes as you communicate and liaise with Council suppliers and staff at all levels of the organisation to influence the desired improvement outcomes.

Along with your Lean6Sigma Black Belt accreditation or equivalent experience you will be able to confidently promote and develop a continuous improvement culture across the organisation, including the following:

  • Presenting findings and recommendations with autonomy and communicate these to sponsors and key stakeholders
  • Coaching and supporting project team members in the use of tools and methodologies
  • Challenging stakeholders to maximise opportunities from process improvement initiatives
  • Identifying improvement opportunities and managing improvement requests from the business
  • Supporting and guiding the business to document business processes, business rules and metrics as part of improvement initiatives
  • Coaching and supporting the business to monitor and continue to improve their operational performance

If you're an experienced continuous improvement professional who enjoys challenging the status quo, join our team and kick-start your 2019.

Additional recruitment information:
Status: permanent, full-time
Salary: will be discussed with the successful applicant
