Our client creates and delivers industry leading environmental consulting services and solutions to the farming community. Due to sustained success, they now have a newly opportunity for an experienced Operations Manager to lead the team. This will be a key role within the leadership group leading a motivated and collaborative team of rural professionals in a consultancy providing innovative and value adding advice, guidance, expertise and support across the wider farm & environmental consulting areas.

Managing the regional team in providing cutting edge farm and environmental expertise and advice to their large clientele and multiple stakeholders, you will be leading a group of highly able and motivated Consultants and Advisors. This is a golden opportunity and one which does not come along often, to build regional leadership and further shape an already high performing team delivering innovative business solutions in this industry critical area.

The role:

  • Develop and action the regional strategy for the Canterbury team
  • Coach, develop and motivate the team of environmental consultants
  • Create opportunities to add value to farming operations through innovative solutions and an expansion of service offerings of the team and wider business
  • Work with the Business Manager to identify market needs, risks and opportunities to enhance the business unit’s national profile
  • Operational management of region to deliver on quality, growth and revenue generation targets
  • Provide technically and commercially superior advice to clients through direct and team interaction
  • Identify networking connections and commercial relationships with regulatory agencies, local professional bodies and other external consultancies

Background and Skills:

  • An undergraduate degree in a relevant science field; postgraduate degree in science and/or business is advantageous
  • Extensive professional experience in environmental/ agricultural fields or farm systems consulting 
  • Passionate about making a difference and drive change in NZ’s rural sector
  • Proven capability in managing budgets, forecasting and the complexity of large technical or business projects with multiple stakeholders
  • Experience leading professional staff ideally within a consultancy practice
  • Sound understanding of environmental legislative and regulatory requirements
  • Highly collaborative and enabling by nature and practice
