Sport Wellington is a charitable Regional Sports Trust (RST) with a vision for everyone in the greater Wellington region to have a life-long involvement in sport and active recreation. 

Sport Wellington’s purpose is to lead the Wellington region’s sport and active recreation community to enable people to be more physically active. Our strategic outcomes are:

Sport Wellington is looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and capable person to join as our KiwiSport Advisor for 20 hours per week through to 30 June 2019.

KiwiSport is a fund aimed at increasing the number of school-age children participating in organised sport; increasing the availability and accessibility of sport opportunities for all school-aged children; and supporting children in developing skills that will enable them to participate effectively in organised sport throughout life. This fund is a critical source of investment to support quality participation opportunities by school-age children.

The purpose of the KiwiSport Advisor is to effectively administer KiwiSport on behalf of Sport Wellington. Ensuring we meet our KiwiSport Fund obligations through the associated reporting and accountabilities. Also, ensuring quality communication is in place for notification of available funds to potential applicants and advising the community of fund allocation.

 

Key Tasks for this role include:

  • Administration of the KiwiSport Fund on behalf of Sport Wellington, including Secretariat for an internal assessment panel and supporting General Manager to develop recommendations for the Board
  • Support the General Manager to manage the KiwiSport budget, investment processes and overall KiwiSport fund on behalf of Sport Wellington
  • Develop relevant communications as required, including the KiwiSport newsletter content
  • Reporting to Sport New Zealand

 

Essential Skills & Attributes include:

  • Strong time management skills
  • Project Planning
  • Broad understanding of the sporting and education sectors, and communities
  • Reporting and record keeping
  • Relationship management
  • IT literate - Spreadsheet and database skills
  • Understanding of finances
  • Eye for detail
  • Strong communicator and good listener
