Student Life Coordinator

The Universal College of Learning is a government-funded Institute of Technology, with four campuses in Palmerston North, Wanganui, Horowhenua and Wairarapa. It meets the needs of local communities and industry by providing tertiary level training to over 6,000 students each year through a wide range of programmes from entry level certificates and foundation courses to diplomas, degrees and opportunities in post graduate study.

The Student Success Team at UCOL provides holistic support to all students to overcome their barriers to learning.  Our primary focus is to support the teaching and learning occurring in the classroom through targeted support.   We are looking for a Student Life Coordinator to be part of our dynamic team.  The purpose of this role is twofold. The first is to plan and run events to drive student engagement on UCOL campuses. The second is to facilitate clear communication between students, whanau/parents and lecturers to overcome challenges to engagement and promote an active student community of learning that embodies the Whare Tapa Wha model of education delivery.

This role is a permanent 0.6 FTE (24 hours per week) position based at our Wanganui Campus.

The ideal candidate will have proven:

  • Relevant tertiary level qualification;
  • Event management or marketing related experience
  • Project Management skills;
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite of programmes to a competent level
