Social Worker/Service Lead

Community Living is an organisation with almost 30 years of experience supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities in their community – enabling them to live their dreams through community connections.

We are looking for a Social Worker to work with children and their whānau/families using a wide range of social work skills and strategies. Working from a strengths based perspective, you will have strong assessment skills, the ability to work holistically and to engage in interventions that inspire, motivate and enable change.  This position is for a fulltime fixed term contract, through to 30 June 2020 and covers the Waikato. 

The role involves working collaboratively with referral and other community agencies to ensure the successful delivery of two different contracts.

You will have a sound understanding of whānau/families who experience intellectual disability as well as care and protection issues. This is a very busy and varied role and will require someone with excellent time management, who is able to work independently and manage their caseload.

Essential requirements include:

  • Registered Social Worker with current APC and minimum 2 years’ experience
  • Demonstrated experience in the delivery of Disability Services and/or Mental Health support and/or related human services including working with children who have high & complex needs
  • People leadership and staff/caregiver supervision experience
  • Having a passion for working with children and their whanau/family
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with, influence, build and maintain relationships with stakeholders
  • Strong planning, time management, administration and implementation skills
  • Understanding and upholding the Articles and Principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Holder of a full, clean NZ drivers licence
  • Ability to pass Police & CYFS checks
