He angitūtanga: The opportunity

Our Regional Parks are much loved and treasured by the people of Auckland and visitors alike, receiving up to 6 million visits a year. They represent the iconic landscapes of the Auckland region and are home to many rare and threatened ecosystems and native species. For many of us, they are places that inspire and define us; places where we seek tranquillity and respite in nature, or more active recreation in the bush or on the beach. We are looking for someone to join the Southern Sector Regional Parks team!

He kōrero mōu: About you

A current New Zealand Drivers Licence is essential as you will be travelling within the Auckland region.

This role has a broad scope of duties and includes the critical responsibility for the management of the sector's health and safety policy and procedures and staff training. The other main responsibilities are to increase community involvement in regional parks through volunteer, partnership, community engagement programmes and initiatives.

A relevant tertiary or recognised qualification in recreation management (or similar), with a strong background in health and safety management, is desirable for this position. The successful person will need to be an excellent communicator, with an ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders. To be successful in this role you will also be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the New Zealand Health and Safety procedures in the workplace. A major focus is to provide management and leadership for our team of park rangers and to contribute to the development of an effective high performing team by providing direction, motivation and development of performance.
