Conservation Ranger
Manage 63 hectares of native bush in Winton!

AB Lime is a diverse and innovative company that has been in operation for over 100 years. We’re quite unique in that we operate three businesses from the one site - Southland’s largest limestone quarry, the regional landfill and a 950-cow dairy farm. With our beautiful rural location, close to the friendly hub of Winton, we’ve grown a great team that we want to add to.

Recently we have developed a biodiversity management plan for 63 hectares of native bush adjoining our operations at Winton. This project includes the protection and restoration of lowland forests and wetlands, with a focus on ecosystem restoration, threatened plants and reptiles, track building and maintenance. We are looking for an experienced ranger to build and manage this project from the outset.

As a Senior Conservation Ranger/Manager (Biodiversity), reporting directly to the Environment Manager, you will be focused on carrying out critical natural heritage conservation work including:

  • Animal and plant pest eradication
  • Ecosystem restoration
  • Reintroduction of uncommon flora and fauna
  • Threatened species management
  • Track building, signage and maintenance

This is an interesting and varied role, requiring a fair amount of autonomy.

If you enjoy getting stuck in, have a real ‘can do’ attitude, a passion for the environment, and the skills and experience to build safe and sound walking tracks, then we want to talk to you!

Ideally you will have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification;
  • Experience in a similar role;
  • Good written and verbal communication skills;
  • A genuine interest in, and commitment to, environmental management;
  • A willingness to work outdoors in all weathers.

In return we offer a fun and inviting place to work! We’ll invest in your training and development, reward you well, and provide career opportunities.

If this sounds like the opportunity you’ve been looking for then get cracking and apply online, or contact Zac Pentecost, 03 263 4362 to find out more!

You’ll find some great information about AB Lime on their Facebook page and website  http://ablime.co.nz/
