The Mind Lab’s Postgraduate Certificate in Digital and Collaborative Learning is running in 20+ locations throughout New Zealand. We are on the lookout for experienced and qualified staff to join our growing team as part time facilitators for our November 2018 intakes in Dunedin and Hawke’s Bay.

We are seeking passionate 21st Century educators for these roles, to help with the delivery of our NZQA accredited postgraduate certificate for in-service teachers in digital and collaborative learning. These casual contract roles would involve delivering one four hour evening class per week (with an additional 2 hours per week for preparation) and grading some student assessments. Payment will be based on an hourly rate.

More than 4,000 educators across New Zealand have already undertaken this innovative qualification, which provides school teachers and educators from other sectors with professional practical skills and the theoretical knowledge to deliver future-oriented education practices supported by digital pedagogies that reflect the needs of a 21st century learning environment.

The qualification has been developed to assist educators to develop and apply effective and authentic teaching concepts and strategies based upon the new opportunities provided by digital tools, transformational teaching and leadership practices and innovative ideas from other sectors, such as agile and lean thinking. It also provides the foundation courses for our Master of Contemporary Education.

Our approach to course delivery supports the education process as an integration and extension of professional teaching practice within the classroom, while encouraging and framing the learning around the notion of change and research informed reflective practice. Face to face sessions are based around collaborative active learning, using constructivist and experiential approaches to innovating pedagogy.

The ideal candidate will be imaginative, flexible, dedicated and able to work effectively within a team, as well as independently. They will need to be able to inspire and inform other educators and be keen to continually develop their own knowledge and skills. We would welcome candidates who have previously completed the Postgraduate programme with The Mind Lab.

The Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Practice (Digital and Collaborative Learning):

  • 32 week part time NZQA accredited qualification.

  • First 16 weeks delivered in weekly four hour face to face sessions in locations across New Zealand.

  • Second 16 weeks delivered primarily via a dedicated, collaborative online portal.

  • A catalyst for the progression of excellence in the teaching profession

  • A practical knowledge accelerator in new and emerging technologies and teaching methodologies.

  • An action based qualification designed to encourage enhanced education experiences and outcomes in the classroom and greater engagement with learners.

  • A bridge between teaching pedagogies and digital pedagogies that have redefined the education landscape.

The Postgraduate Facilitator will:

  • Be qualified and/or experienced to teach at postgraduate level

  • Have a minimum of 5 years education experience, including adult education

  • Be responsible for teaching at least 1 session weekly (usually 4-8pm)

  • Provide personal guidance to teachers enrolled on the programme

  • Mark student assessments

  • Be research active

  • Embody The Mind Lab values and a service-oriented, collaborative culture through positive role-modeling

  • Be willing to travel to deliver classes in multiple locations

  • Embrace change
