The position of Executive Director of the New Zealand Institute of International Affairs (NZIIA) will become available in August 2018.  This is a part time position (25-30) hours per week) based in Wellington requiring someone with a broad grasp of international and regional trends and developments, especially as they affect, or may affect, the political and economic interests of New Zealand.  If you are strongly self-motivated and have high-level people-to-people skills, that could be you.  Experience in overseeing delivery of an innovative programme of events will also be a key asset for applicants. The success of the NZIIA relies on having productive relationships with members of other institutes and organizations, potential speakers and seminar participants, national and branch volunteers, officials, parliamentarians, business people and diplomats.

The NZIIA is an independent non-governmental organization that encourages an understanding of the importance of global affairs to the political and economic well-being of New Zealand. Established in 1934, it has its National Office at Victoria University of Wellington.  The National Office is the central coordinating body for the NZIIA.  It is staffed by a part time Executive Director and a fulltime Administrator. It organises a large number of public lectures, seminars, and panel discussions each year and publishes a bimonthly journal, the New Zealand International Review (NZIR).  Separate programmes are run by the Institute's branches in Auckland, Hamilton, Hawke's Bay, Palmerston North, Wairarapa, Wellington, Nelson, Christchurch, and Timaru.
