A vacancy has arisen for an experienced hands-on Digital and Events Marketing Manager to join our dynamic and fast paced environment. This is a new role, in that a role vacancy allowed an internal realignment to prepare the organisation for future opportunities primarily the Hockey Pro League.

Core responsibilities of the role include:

  • Oversee the digital space for Hockey New Zealand including leading our social media, websites, CRM and mobile environments
  • Oversight and delivery of event marketing campaigns and sports presentation, including the Hockey Pro League, Vantage Black Sticks test matches and national tournaments through a wide range of channels digital, mobile and traditional
  • Responsibility for leading and marketing organisational events including the annual awards dinner and Hockey Foundation Gala Dinner
  • Create and curate marketing content and manage our brands and logos
  • Working closely with our sponsors and partners to drive their leverage activations
  • Support the GM – Marketing and Brands with organisational marketing and growing brand awareness and equity in Hockey New Zealand’s suite of brands.

This role will suit a person with experience in:

  • Event and digital marketing 
  • Marketing planning, ROI tracking and execution
  • Managing agencies, suppliers  and partners to market and promote events
  • Sports marketing at a national or regional level including communicating with high performing sports teams

Skills required in this role are:

  • A Bachelors qualification (or equivalent) in marketing or business management
  • 3-5 years minimum working in a marketing role including digital
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong track record in creating and delivering event marketing campaigns
  • Strong presentation skills and some graphic design skills desirable
  • High competency in social media platforms primarily Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Snapchat
  • Skilled at website and online shop management, sales drivers and online campaigns

To be successful in this role you will be:

  • Self-motivated and show initiative
  • A team player who can work cross-functionally and collaboratively
  • Passion about sport (not necessarily hockey)
  • Able to juggle multiple priorities and challenging deadlines
  • Adaptable and enjoy working in a dynamic, fast paced environment

  • A person of high personal integrity
