Stats NZ needs information about New Zealanders to provide insights and data about our society and our economy. These insights and data contribute to making better lives for everyone.

We have opportunities available for enthusiastic, motivated Survey interviewers to collect information by interviewing ordinary Kiwis, working with our Field Collections team.

The Field Collections team is responsible for collecting survey information from households and businesses across New Zealand. The information we collect is used by our business to produce meaningful stories about New Zealand to help people make informed decisions.

About this role

Do you enjoy talking and interacting with people from all "walks of life"? Are you flexible and willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done?

As a Survey Interviewer you will be visiting selected households to conduct face-to-face interviews. You will be given all the tools you need to succeed, great training, and on-going support.

About you

Our work and environment is based around excellent customer service.

This means that you must be:

  • a good communicator
  • able to interact with a diverse range of people
  • able to manage your time well
  • an excellent listener
  • flexible with working hours
  • well organised and approachable
  • calm under pressure.

The successful applicant will:

  • be confident with a range of mobile devices
  • have a current clean New Zealand driver's licence
  • own a reliable vehicle
  • have access to a broadband internet connection at home.

Market research or door sales experience will be of advantage.

About us

We have a proud history as a reliable government department, always operating with integrity, and being fair, impartial, responsible, and trustworthy in everything we do.

At Stats NZ, you can expect to work with fantastic people in a flexible work environment where diversity is celebrated.

We guarantee a minimum of 35 hours work per fortnight but from time to time there are opportunities to agree to more work. In this role your hours will vary, and you will need to be available for both evening and weekend work.
