Human Resources Advisor

Contract: Permanent part-time role
Hours: 20 hours per week
Location: SPCA Wellington Centre, Newtown, Wellington

SPCA has recently become a unified organisation with a regional approach. The aim is to have one effective SPCA voice, one strategy, one Board and one positive and effective culture to improve animal welfare across New Zealand.
We are looking for an experienced Human Resources Advisor to support our Central Region centres. You may be an animal lover but people and processes are your passion. This role will see you coach, guide and advise managers and employees on all things Human Resources-related including employee relations, employment law and documentation, performance management, health and safety, capability development and talent management.
In this role, you will:
• Be passionate and skilled in human resources management processes, documentation, employee relations and embedding a positive culture
• Be confident in engaging with staff at all levels and build relationships as a trusted and well-respected advisor
• Be confident in dealing with conflict resolution
• Be experienced in employment law, employment relations documentation and processes
• Be compliance-focused and risk-aware and be a strong advocate for wellbeing
• Contribute to the implementation of the SPCA strategy and culture
• Assist with the integration of effective processes and systems to support all aspects of remuneration, benefits, engagement and recognition.
Key requirements:
• 2-3 years' experience in a Human Resources Advisor role
• Experience working in a multi-site organisation
• Strong employee relations experience
• High levels of customer focus and a genuine care of and commitment to people
• Sound knowledge of NZ employment legislation
• Exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills
• Flexible and adaptable working style
• You will have relevant tertiary education or significant HR generalist experience
