Support Workers - RIDSAS Service

Community Living are seeking Support Workers for our RIDSAS service which provides support for intellectually disabled people who have high and complex needs, some of whom are referred under the Intellectual Disability Compulsory Care & Rehabilitation (IDCC&R) Act 2003.

We have several houses in Hamilton where we have 24/7 shift coverage on a fortnightly roster. Some of these houses are run as a secure service. We are looking for strong people to work closely with our people. Someone who is healthy and physically active with a strong physical presence would be ideal.

Skills and Experience:

  • Strength of character
  • Experience working with challenging behaviours
  • Good de-escalation skills and able to employ distraction techniques
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A clean, full NZ drivers licence
  • The right to legally work in New Zealand for at least 12 months

The New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 2, 3 or 4 is an advantage however people with the right values and keen interest to learn will be genuinely considered. 

In return, Community Living can offer ongoing training, development and mentoring, as well as various discounts and savings through our employee benefits programme. We are offering pay rates starting from $19 per hour, increasing with relevant Health and Wellbeing qualifications.

Positions include fulltime 60 to 80 hours a fortnight on a roster.  Sleepovers, awake shifts and part time is also available.
