Specialist Support Worker and Caregiver Roles

Te Puna Awhina

Te Puna Awhina is Community Living’s professional service for children and young people with special needs. We are currently looking for people who are interested in working with children and young people in the Hauraki, South Waikato and Waikato areas (including Hamilton City) and have experience of working in this field.

This is an amazing opportunity to use your valuable experience and skills to support our young people to strengthen their abilities and access their community sustainably.  Your skills in building relationships will be key when working with their families and developing relationships in the community.  You will be available to work predominately between the hours of 3-6pm during the school week, and there are some hours available in the weekend.

Community Living offers you ongoing training, development and mentoring, as well as various discounts and savings through our employee benefits programme. We are offering pay rates starting from $19 per hour, increasing with relevant Health and Wellbeing qualifications.

RESPITE CAREGIVERS:

Our children’s service, Te Puna Awhina, are always interested in increasing our caregiver pool, being available to support families with children who have an intellectual disability.  If you and your family are interested in providing a home away from home for a child and their family regularly for a few days could you please make contact with us to discuss further.

We currently have a 10 year old boy who has caregivers in Hamilton, but we require backup caregivers to cover when they are unavailable.  You will be someone who has experience in supporting people with an intellectual disability and autism who would love to use your knowledge and experience to support this young man.

Please click 'apply for this job' to submit your cover letter and CV and apply online today! In your cover letter, please state which of these roles you are interested in. There is the potential for some of these roles to be combined for the right applicant.

For further job specific information, please contact one of our Te Puna Awhina team - Kim Simpson or Susanne Llopis on phone 07 834 3700 to discuss further.

The health and wellbeing of our employees and the people we support is very important to us. As such Community Living is a 100% smoke-free environment and operates a drug and alcohol free workplace where we have a random testing programme for all employees.
