Racing Operations Cadet

Addington Raceway & Events Centre is the home of the iconic New Zealand Trotting Cup Day, Christchurch’s biggest race day and social occasion. Our Racing Operations Team are responsible for taking nominations and selecting fields as well as running the racing side of our race days/nights.

This is a newly created, entry-level, role and an amazing opportunity for an enthusiastic person who is wanting to build career in racing.

What are we looking for?

  • A knowledge of, or affinity for, the racing industry.
  • Excellent communication skills. 
  • A very good understanding of how to use social media to engage with customers and stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail, the ability to work to deadlines & a strong work ethic.
  • Well-developed MS suite skills.
  • Ideally a tertiary qualification in management or marketing (or similar).
  • You must be available and willing to work on Friday nights and some weekends. This is not negotiable.

What will you be doing?

  • Assisting the Racing Manger in taking nominations and selecting fields, running race days/nights and designing and printing racebooks.
  • Take responsibility for the content of racing related communications.
  • Manage the racing database.
  • Supporting the marketing and finance teams.
