Manaakitanga (hospitality) is one of the core values which drives Ngāi Tahu Tourism and our way of doing business. This value ensures that our team are great hosts, always extending a warm welcome to visitors to Te Waipounamu (South Island) and Aotearoa (New Zealand).

We strive to be a good employer, providing equal opportunities, a safe and healthy working environment and the encouragement to become part of a successful enterprise.

Ngāi Tahu entered the tourism industry in 1999 when it purchased a controlling stake in Shotover Group, which owned a number of operations in Queenstown, Taupo and Rotorua - namely Shotover Jet itself, Dart River Jet Safaris, Hukafalls Jet, Hollyford Guided Walk and Rainbow Springs. By 2004 the iwi (tribe) had taken full ownership and since then has continued to expan d its tourism operations, acquiring other nature-based attractions. Our most recent venture is our partnership with the Agrodome in Rotorua in September 2011.

The Ngāi Tahu Tourism portfolio includes:
  • Shotover Jet (Queenstown)
  • Dart River (Queenstown)
  • Hollyford Track (Fiordland National Park)
  • Franz Josef Glacier Guides (Franz Josef)
  • Glacier Hot Pools (Franz Josef)
  • Agrodome (Rotorua)
  • Rainbow Springs Kiwi Wildlife Park (Rotorua)
  • Hukafalls Jet (Taupō)

Each of these businesses has a rich and proud history. Some, such as Rainbow Springs, date back as far as 1932, and Shotover Jet was established in 1965.
