We’ve examined the latest salary data across 28 job classifications on www.seek.co.nz to bring you this month’s SEEK Salary Snapshot. All jobs listed on New Zealand’s largest jobs board are loaded against specified salary data, allowing us to deliver you this timely and comprehensive report on the nation’s payslips each month. Take a look at our findings below so you can see if you could pump up your pay in 2012.
We recently mined data from SEEK across 2011 and discovered that salaries grew by over $3,000 during the year. The average national Kiwi pay packet increased by 5% to $73,530 per annum across jobs advertised on www.seek.co.nz.
Above average this month are Mining, Resources and Energy roles with the highest average pay packet in our Salary Snapshot for the seventh month running.
Better than your average
This month, construction roles are back in the top three for the first time since July with a 4.4% increase in pay and a new average annual salary of $89,849. Consulting and Strategy roles continue to perform, retaining the second spot on our table for the seventh consecutive month with an average salary of $91,538 per annum, up 2.7% from November.
Mining, Resources and Energy roles round out our top performers, holding on to the number one position despite a decline in the average pay packet this month, now earning $110,706 on average.
Most improved
- Farming, Animals and Conservation – harvesting an increase of 9%, these roles now have the potential to rake in an average salary of $61,125
- Government and Defence – government and defence roles grew by a notable $3,910, up 5% from November and now with an average salary of $77,435
- Legal – roles in the legal classification on SEEK grew by 5% this month, now with an average pay packet of $82,185
